Double treat: Taming Of The Shrew and Lust, Caution- one classic and one adult flick- eek, art film with lots in it. Hehe.
Movies galore! Shangri-la’s becoming my fave hub. The former’s featured in Cine Europa- they showed the BBC production. True to the original. Like all works of Shakespeare, it’s one long piece of poetry. Funny, too.
The other one’s in my want-to-see-movies list for months now. The un-cut version’s being shown in select theaters in Manila. Reviews said it’s neither sexy nor thrilling; sedate and unexciting; and too long (two hours and 40 minutes) with nothing new to offer, but it has roused my curiosity since I learned about it. I was awake the entire duration of the film. Nope, not because of the graphic sex scenes.
I felt I was the one being described by the movie’s critics: neither sexy nor thrilling, sedate and unexciting… Hahaha, joke. Thing is, I could relate to one of the characters- not Kuang nor Mak Tai Tai. Frightening, I see myself in Mr. Yee.
I think Ang Lee deserves this year’s Golden Globe for this film. Worth my Php 150. I would recommend it to a friend.
Plus Tony Leung’s enigma. And Wang Leehom! Muy guapo! Mahal ko na sila. Hahaha.
