HOW TO BUILD A LOVING FAMILY

John 13:34

A new command I give you: Love one another.

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Philippians 2:1-4

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any chipping in in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

1. Be a phenomenal human being

Romans 12:10

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

-Increase your self-esteem

-Develop your sense of responsibility

-Live a moral life

-Grow your spiritual life

-Establish your financial life

-Discern your state of life

-Choose your spouse well

2. Honor your parents

Exodus 20:12

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

3. Serve your siblings

Genesis 4:9

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

4. Love your spouse

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave up himself for her.

Ephesians 5:22-24

Wives, submit to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit everything to their husbands.

Ephesians 5:33

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husbands.

5. Train your children

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
