Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
WHY I AM CATHOLIC
1. Because the Catholic Faith says that it’s all Grace
Message: “You are the treasure of God’s heart.”
My 4 examples:
a. Eucharist
John 6:53
Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
b. Confession
Matthew 9:10-12
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
c. Blessed Virgin Mary
John 16:26-27
When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
d. Praying for the Dead
2 Maccabees 12:44-45
For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.
2. Because the Catholic Faith Says that Everything is a Sacrament
Message: “God lurks in every corner loving us.”
God speaks to men through the visible creation. The material cosmos is so presented to man’s intelligence that he can read these traces of its Creator. Light and darkness, wind and fire, water and earth, tree and its fruit speak of God and symbolize both His greatness and His nearness.
-Catechism of the Catholic Church
Biblical Examples of Sacraments
Ø Staff of Moses (Exodus 4:14)
Ø Burning bush (Exodus 3:2)
Ø Mantle of Elijah (2 Kings 2:8)
Ø Remains of Elisha (2 Kings 13:21)
Ø Angels of gold (Exodus 25:18)
Ø Fiery serpent (Numbers 21:8)
Ø Garments of Jesus (Luke 8:42-46)
Ø Spit and mud (John 9:6-7)
3. The Catholic Church has made the most mistakes
Ephesians 4:15-16
Rather, living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, with the proper functioning of each part, brings about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love.
