grandson. The little boy, wearing a hat, plays with his plastic shovel by the shore, very near
the water.
Then all of a sudden, a giant wave comes rushing towards the boy, and before grandma could scream, the wave crashes onto him. When the water recedes back into the sea, the boy is gone.
Quickly, the grandmother stands up, throws her crossstitch on the sand, looks up the sky, shakes her fist to God and says bitterly, “Lord, I pray every day. I go to Mass regularly. I’m a good woman. Bring back my little boy!”
And lo and behold, another giant wave comes rushing right in front of her, spilling out the little boy — all wet, alive, though dazed.
The old woman stares at her grandson, speechless. Then, regaining her composure, she frowns and looks up the sky and says, “Lord, a while ago, my little boy was wearing a hat! Where’s his hat?”
There are people like Grandma. They receive so many blessings in their life but they look at what’s lacking. That grandmother will never be happy because she will always be looking for her grandson’s hat.
In life there are winners and losers. Winners are not more intelligent than losers — they just have a positive mindset. Losers don’t have a positive belief. They keep on looking for the problem, for what’s wrong. Winners always look for the good that’s happening in their life.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is
noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever
is lovely, whatever is admirable. If anything
is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.
— Philippians 4:8
