October 16, 2012, Night Prayer

Tuesday, Week IV

Examination of Conscience

Another day is almost past. Let us look back at it since the time we woke up and let us recall God’s gracious blessings. Let us praise and thank the Lord for all that He has given us- His presence in all that happened to us today-  all the wonderful new experiences, the places that we went to, and the new faces that we met. Let us relish how we felt yet again how precious we are in the eyes of God.

Pause…

Let us also examine ourselves honestly and recognize our failings in responding gracefully to God’s graces. Let us beg the Lord that He would open our eyes so we would be more aware of our shortcomings. and, with true humility and sincere contrition, let us plead  our compassionate Father for His mercy and forgiveness. Let us come to the sweet Sacred Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us. let us be still and let us allow ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Pause…

Penitential Prayer
Lord Jesus,  you opened the eyes of the blind, healed the sick, forgave the sinful woman, and after Peter’s denial confirmed him in your love. Listen to my prayer:  forgive all my sins, renew your love in my heart, help me to live in perfect unity with my fellow Christians that I may proclaim your saving power to all the world.

Amen.
